There’s one iconic international sport that involves 150 nations, from Algeria to Zimbabwe, and it’s not soccer. You can compete on Boxing Day and it’s not cricket. It can take you to the Olympics and it’s not swimming.
It is, of course, sailing – a fabulous sport that is genuinely a whole lot of fun. Apart from being a healthy outdoor experience, you get to meet new friends and learn new skills.
Courses run over an 8-week block during the school term, either as an after-school activity on a Wednesday or as a weekend morning activity on either Saturday or Sunday. We also offer the program as a 4- or 5-day block during school holidays.
Using NCYC’s resources and expertise, the Bay Sailing Centre is now working to establish a nationally accredited Learn to Sail Academy.
This will include an extensive school program, junior community sailing, “She Sails”, and a U3A (University of the Third Age) program for retired and semi-retired adults. We will ensure there is an easy and supportive transition from learning to sail to participating in the sport of sailing.
Four-day Junior Learn-to-Sail programs are being run in the 2021 school holidays, along with Discover Sailing Experience sessions for youth and adult sailors, with Pacer dinghies that suit a parent and child or couples.
