Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club (NCYC) is ideally placed to manage the Bay Sailing Centre, having been named Australian Sailing’s national Yacht Club of the Year for both 2019 and 2022 – an unprecedented achievement for a regional entity with a relatively young history.
We are renowned for our sail training and education programs and highly regarded for staging major sailing regattas, while also being adept at managing/maintaining waterfront assets – including our own marina complex on Newcastle Harbour.
Our race management team has a long and strong association with the Port Stephens region through initiatives like the annual Sail Port Stephens yachting regatta, which has included a popular Junior racing series held at the Bay Sailing Centre site.
The two waterways are separated by just 22 nautical miles and club boats regularly visit the region.
Many of the NCYC learn-to-sail experiences and programs are easily adaptable to the Port Stephens area. Our courses are increasing in popularity as a way to get young children into the sport of sailing, and the NCYC Sailing Academy has been recognised as the best sailing academy in NSW.
Our team of instructors, and our sailing manager, are passionate about nurturing the sport of sailing, while also ensuring that safety is the number one priority for all involved.
The NCYC has professionals in all disciplines needed to make the Bay Sailing Centre a success, with baristas, race managers and instructors ready to use their experience and broaden the community reach.
As a non-for-profit organisation, the NCYC takes pride and care in maintaining a community-first approach in all aspects of its business.
